George Russell

Británico · 2019–presente

No world title

George Russell is one of the most solid and consistent talents of the new generation. A dominant Formula 2 champion, the Briton from King's Lynn earned the grid's respect over three hard seasons in a Williams with barely any resources, wringing the car into impossible places every Saturday.

His golden chance came in 2020, when he stood in for an unwell Hamilton at Mercedes and came within a whisker of winning on his first race with the team, robbed of victory only by a puncture and a pit-stop error. In 2022 he became a full Mercedes driver and responded with huge consistency: his first win in Brazil and fourth in the championship, ahead of his team-mate.

With Hamilton's move to Ferrari in 2025, Russell took over as Mercedes' leader. Methodical, quick and mature beyond his years, he is considered a firm candidate to fight for championships as soon as he has the right car.

What if Russell had another car?

We took his real attributes and put him in the best car of each era — in a real driver's seat, against the team-mate that car actually had. 20 full seasons in each.
